Dabney Hofammann,

Telehealth Only

(She/Her/Hers)

I approach counseling with humility and non-judgment and offer unconditional positive regard. A person dealing with problems doesn’t make them a 'problem-person'. Our relationship is on a level playing field; I bring knowledge in counseling and the client brings expertise on their life experiences. When clients are intrinsically motivated to move their life in the direction they want to go, good things can happen. With therapy, you get out of it what you put in. I work in a very conversational style and encourage people to lean into their life experiences and trust in themselves.

My primary goals are that clients can identify for themselves what a meaningful life can look like and feel they have a safe space to work through challenges. The symptoms we experience are usually adaptive responses we developed trying to navigate the world with the tools we had at the time. Therapy can be a great place to assess how we can bring in new tools that help us to respond, rather than react.

In addition to helping clients manage symptoms, I also work to help them identify their emotions and build the capacity for risking being vulnerable in relationships with safe people.

Clinical Interests

My counseling interests include identity development, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, stress, anxiety, and depression. I have experience working with individuals in the LGBTQIA community, those who have experienced sexual violence, and persons who struggle with substance use. I am a kink, polyamory/non-monogamy, sex worker-friendly counselor. Social justice and intersectional feminism are at the core of my counseling approach.
