(He/Him)
Joseph Hunt Wassink (Joe) is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) who specializes in supporting children, teenagers, and young adults experiencing depression and anxiety. Joe emphasizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in his practice in order to support individuals developing practical strategies and skills to manage their distress. If and when clients are ready to process deeper hurts or traumas, Joe may recommend employing Trauma-Focused CBT or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to safely reprocess trauma.
Especially when working with children and teenagers, Joe combines art and play therapy techniques with CBT techniques. This supports the development of emotional communication and regulation skills, while building self-esteem. Additionally, he enjoys helping parents explore new strategies to meet their children’s unique needs. He also supports children and teenagers with ADHD and oppositional and defiant disorder.
Joe earned his bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Iowa and his Master’s of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
