Sarah is Iowa Board Certified as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)  and an International Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IAADC).  Sarah received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa.  Sarah offers psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and children.

Sarah uses a strengths-based perspective, takes a systems approach to counseling, and uses a range of therapeutic models and techniques to serve each individual’s biopsychosocial needs. Sarah has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for substance use disorders, depression, and chronic pain as well as training in Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Sarah has worked at the Iowa City VA in the substance use treatment program since 2016 where she provides therapy outpatient and on the acute inpatient units to veterans with severe mental illness.
